Before and after! Not all it's life was the joy it should have had, but joy and beauty is now restored after almost 5 years of work. I've never take on a project this big but thanks to many of your articles and write ups persistence Won!
I do want to personally thank @Joe Inama an awesome local dude for his friendship and encouragement. And parts.
A bit of the history, my uncle bought this car from a use car lot March 11, 1977. In 1979 while a friend of his was driving he fell asleep. While the car flipped, the driver escaped with minor injuries. My uncle wasn't so lucky with many broken bones, but he survived. He tells the story of laying on the ground looking back at the car and the windshield held up the car. He never wore his seatbelt fearing to be crushed under the car. When I graduated college, he mailed me the title and said rebuild it someday. I kept it until I had the room, ambition, time and money to take on the project. Now to get some more miles on it and enjoy the wind flowing over the front windshield.
Thank you all, I appreciate all the nice comments! She is a runner. Took it on a 100 mile round highway trip today to see my sister today and have lunch with a friend. At lunch a guy walks in and right over to our table and asked "What year is your Vette?" I guess I'm an easy peg for Corvettes! No idea how he knew it was mine other than a Summit Racing hat.
Car ran beautifully and the vintage air was one of the best upgrades. It originally didn't have AC.
Cheers - Eric
I had 6 months of dismantling down to this level before rebuilding started.
Beautiful looking car - Quite the project when you started. Have to ask if the uncle is around to see the finished car?
Unfortunately no but he knew I would be finished one day. A very good friend of his who helped him through recovery is still around and he invited me for a visit and to share memories. I can't wait to go.
