Getting ready to order a Ididit tilt column for my 66 and need some advice for those who have done it. I posted a link below to the column I want to order but it shows 3 different "steering wheel adaptors" to choose from. My question is do I need a "adaptor" and if so what do you recommend of the 3 choices? Thought about calling Summit directly but would prefer to hear from anyone who has actually had the column installed. Thanks!
I ordered my 67 column directly from IDIDIT as I had it shortened for the borgeson box. It came with the longer adapter in the pic below. I forget who it was, but they used an older Camaro adapter on their column. I found one on eBay and need to decide which one I will use once I get the seats installed.
Forgot to add that I do believe you need an adapter to mount the wheel. I don’t think you could based off the picture in the link you provided.
I found the best price for my 65 on e-bay. I also used the Camaro adapter rather than the Ididit adapter as it is shorter. That was also on e-bay. The only problem I had doing the install was I crimped the wire harness and shorted out my brake/interior lights. Quick fix but I should have been more careful. I also paid extra to get the emergency flasher wiring harness as the 65 doesn't have them.

Mine was done awhile ago so the old memory doesn't recall all the details. All Ididit parts, I spun the aluminum adapter with 220 sand paper and pushed the column as far forward as possible.
I also used the original turn signal stalk. The Ididit stalk stuck straight out while the original stalk is parallel to the steering wheel. I also put on a 15 inch Scott Drake steering wheel. I don't have power steering, but I manage.
I think I may have started the Camaro hub use. I have an IDIDIT column and it moves the steering wheel closer to the driver. The long ididit hub makes it worse. I also use a C3 wheel with the underlapping center spoke. If you use the stock wheel the stock hub may work for you. I would suggest installing the column as far in as you can and try your hub 1st. IDIDIT makes an adaptor to use the C3 wheel on 66 down hubs. I don't think it is listed on their website but they sell them. Part # RAW9205009401.
That's a great tip on the Camaro hub. I don't have any idea why the Ididit hub is so long. I think I am going to mill an inch off it and redrill and tap the holes.
