Maybe post a picture. If Delco-Remy, it would probably be from the 1950's or early 1960's.

Numbers on breaker plate might also help to date it.

If it uses a distributor window cap as an external point adjustment then its a 985 from a 62 327-340 hp.

I believe 1961 was the last year for the generator-driven tach. Being that this is a distributor-driven tach, that would place its earliest date as 1962. Additionally, there were no dual-point distributors on factory engines after '62 (as far as I can recall) however you can easily add a second set to a single-point distributor so that's not much help. The one thing about '62 DP is that there was no vacuum advance. So there you have it: if tach-drive, dual-point, no vac then it is a '62. If tach-drive, dual-point, w/vac then it is anything '63 to '74 where someone added the second set of points.

(Now that I've climbed out on this limb, watch for a message stating that '68 revived the DP setup for one year only!)

That appears to be a single point Corvette distributor that someone installed an aftermarket dual point set-up. It could be a Mallory kit buy the looks of the large external condenser.
Those are not the standard externally adjusted GM points. They look like they are from the dual point C1 fuelie distributor.

It looks to me like the points are stamped 24905 which is a Mallory part number. Additionally, the 25590 plate number is a Mallory dual-point conversion kit.

Can't be a '61 as '61 distributors did not have a tach-drive connection. Can't be a '62 either because, although they had the tach-drive, '62 didn't have the machined cut-out for the vacuum advance canister. One of the things about Corvette distributor housings from '63 to '74 is that they are universal fit and appearance. The shafts, plates, weights, etc. are all interchangeable, so anything could end up inside one.
