Default Steering Coupler

Are telescopic steering couplers compatible with standard steering couplers? Im guessing no, but I’ve read it doesn’t matter. I do have a round shaft at the steering box. See image - they are different heights and after searching forums and chatGPT, it looks like that is why they are different. The Lares coupler didn’t specify Telescopic but I think that’s what it’s for. I have a standard column.

The Lares coupler does appear to have wire mesh embedded BTW (a question I posted a few days ago).

67 tele rag joints use the standard column rag. 65-66 use a unique rag for tele only But a standard column rag will work on a tele but the column will be pushed further out to the driver seat

Thanks - I have a ‘65. Will the tele-rag work on a a standard column? I imagine it will push the column forward a bit as opposed to further out. Thanks!

That tele rag is worth a bunch of money and very sought after. You would be better off selling it

I wish! The tele-rag (Right side, looks new if I have them correct), is a Lares 202 purchased through Oreily auto parts. They are readily available for $60.00.

The newer one looks like a 67-82 which has a different spline count
