Looking for a source/resource that could give me instruction on engine assembly - specifically Corvette engine assembly.
I will be receiving my engine from the engine builders soon and will be assembling all the bits and bobs on the engine. Engine builders will install exhaust manifolds, valve covers water pump and intake manifold. The rest is on me. Oil filler, vent tube, distributor, plugs, wires, heat shields, carb, fuel pump, etc…
I plan to assemble the engine to the tranny before putting it back in the car and don’t want to miss installing a heat shield or a ground strap before getting it in the car and it becomes much more difficult to install.
is there any sort of a step by step guide out there?
Like you are doing I had my 67 L79 engine rebuilt at a speed shop and put it back in afterwards.
There are some videos on YouTube but most deal with the internals of the engine. The service manual as suggested above is an EXCELLENT suggestion and what I used.
I am also happy to share my …school of hard knocks… experiences with what I went through…although my efforts were not done to make it OEM original.

Look on line for HP or SA books for rebuilding a Small Block Chevy. Great detail, narrative and pics. I used the HP one in '85 for my rebuild. It now has about 135K miles on it. Dennis
