Well, at least the broach marks look good. I assume that first character is a T ?

Overall it looks good to my novice eye - but I’m no expert and if I were buying it I would get a verification from a real expert!

A car like that you need to evaluate the whole car and assess it from there. Do you have the vin stamp from the trans

Rob - We (Gary Cowans and I) have that VIN on both our L78 Lists, the xls spreadsheet over on the NCRS site and the public C2Registry.org site.
No info regarding originality but there is this note..."Sold for $86,700 on Hemmings Online - August of 202X (last digit not showing). It's listed as a Nassau Blue on Bright Blue Coupe."

Personally I don’t like those rust areas either, especially in the lower front edge of the Z bar; who knows what the rest of the bird cage looks like.

Numbers look good , nice broach marks. Tags look good. Surface rust on the z bar , hmmmm. If it came from Pa that would be normal.

Where'd I say it is”really bad”? Point is rust on the Z bar shows the possibility of more rust up higher so best to get it checked before spending big bucks. NO body knows for sure at this point so better to be safe than sorry. That good enough for ya?

Based on the picture, I don't like that stamp very much. Need better photos.

If I go look at the car I’ll take my own pictures. But the pad does not look great to me either, real broach marks are more uniform in width and depth than what I’m seeing..but then again I’m no expert either. Probably pass on this car, but still thinking about it.

For reference, here's a pad picture of a Benchmark 396 I used to own.
