Default Heat riser

When should the heat riser open after starting the engine? I should see the heat riser open 7-10 minutes after starting the engine. Correct? The rh manifold should be fairly warm-just like the left side?

Both exhaust manifolds heat up pretty quick, so I’d say 7-10 minutes is way too long.
When it’s cold, reach down and see if you can open it by hand, if not, it’s probably corroded and stuck.

Unless you’re driving in winter, you don’t need it.
When I had go replace mine 25 years ago, I used my dremel and removed the butterfly flapper. It looks stock, and is counterweights is still free to move.
