Looking to see if a big cap hei dist with fit in a 56 or do I need to go to a small cap dist.? I'm not able to search past threads for some reason

I have a Big Cap HEI in my 59 and no clearance problems

I think it depends whether or not you want the stock chrome shielding reinstalled afterward.

HEI's are great buy new plug wires too. I like the kind that run under like the stock ones. Also if you have dual quads a large cap won't fit. If I were to do it again I would do a small cap.

My car is an old drag car it is tubbed and has a tilt nose but I see what you mean about the big cap hei

For me, I have been REAL pleased with an electronic conversion, such as PerTronix. It permits retaining the stock shielding, which I really like on these early cars. Performance is excellent.
