I want to get my headlight motors out to rebuild them.
Step 1 is to remove the plug from the motor.
I cant get the plug out! I squeeze the tab but the plug won't come out!
I tried a small screw driver to push the locking tab in but I can't get my hands in there to do it.
There isn't enough slack in the electric wires to get the motor out where I can really work on it.
Anyone have a suggestion.
Bud
There is plenty, if you have the hood off the car it's pretty easy to work on all of it.
I removed the two prop rod bolts from the hood and then reinserted one bolt in the "upper/rear" hood hole and the "lower/forward" prop rod hole. This held the hood in a more vertical position allowing addition room in front, without going through the hassle of pulling the hood (needing two people, etc.).
I also covered the radiator with a piece of cardboard, just to protect the core in case I dropped the motors or a wrench.
I had a 12' x 12" mirror, but found the reflection off the hood surface works pretty well with bright lights... A little disorienting trying to do everything backwards in the mirror...

I have experienced all the same challenges. Since I don’t have anything more than small inspection mirror, I used my iPhone. Worked pretty well once I got it propped up in a good spot.
Open the hood past its lock position, stick a screwdriver through two holes when they line up and you will gain a little more room.
But its easier with the hood off and there’s less chance you’ll scratch it.
