I wanted a thrill machine with absolutely no interest in sitting on lawn chairs or judging. I got some documentation reaching back to a Wisconsin Dentist in '80's. It was interesting and fun to connect with him, but the docs had absolutely no bearing on my decision to purchase the car at my price point goal. Parallel question regarding those who are passionate about originality and those who want to smoke the tires. What is your passion? Larry

Just speaking for myself, I highly value documentation. I have two huge three ring binders of docs, history and photos of my '65 (and for that matter on my 2008). Original owner docs, dealer paperwork, all subsequent owner info, restoration paperwork and photos, all NCRS judging and award sheets (six Top Flights), old photos and communications from the original owner and all of the car's history and maintenance during my ownership (27 years). I would expect that the next owner would have some appreciation for all that, but if not, it makes me happy to have it all nonetheless. Cheers!

I agree with the above, many need these type of things. Then there are those with very original cars that do not need fancy names or papers…..

I'm still waiting for forum members to contact me and rid themselves of the worthless original documents that came with their C1 or C2. Yes indeed, totally worthless... you know it, I know it, everyone knows it!

As a reminder, please check around... even all your silly original glove box literature should be tossed out. If you don't know how to use the radio by now, the hang tag and instruction sheets are just taking up vital space. Discard them, as well as the ancient original owners manual, and you'll have lotz more room to actually store all your gloves (maybe even a catcher's mitt).

If you have an unwanted original Protection Plan Booklet (especially an early 1963 yellow 1st edition), window sticker, tank sticker, order copy, invoice, etc... by all means, just send it my way. Heck, I could even use it as toilet paper, during the next pandemic... good for the ecology, good for the economy, good for the butt-on-me.

Do you own a low life, base motor, 3-speed Corvette... other people might require you to pay THEM for document and literature disposal fees. Not me... I'd do it absolutely for FREE (United States & Canada only - Void where prohibited).

Don't care for the NCRS... this would be a wonderful opportunity to display your ultimate contempt. While they are gathered at the Annual Convention, their focus will be elsewhere. Stop being so selfish... we all know those documents are total junk... purge yourself ASAP, and gain that eternal euphoric feeling of 'paperwork freedom'.

Kindly PM me with your list and photos.

if you want to support resale down the road, then buy in at the right price. don't overpay. documentation is only considered with buy in price and the appreciation curve is about the same with or without doc.
so simply don't pay a ' having doc' price for a car without doc.

That makes the PoP and tank sticker slightly less valuable than worthless.

I hear what you're saying but isn't there some comfort knowing your car was born with Big Block but somewhere along the timeline the motor went to heaven. Don't you think that matters? It's a real Big Block car, not a bastard child.

Well said, is the appreciation curve really the same? I never thought of it that way. Maybe in another 10 years it won't matter because the lack of interest in these mechanical beasts. Highschools no longer offer shop thus they don't know what a distributor is let alone what carburetor is. Kids (35) and under today have a different view of the world. Sorry to digress

Isn't a 'real big block car' with other than the born with motor a 'bastard child'?
But, yes, if I was buying a non-numbers car, and was offered original docs, I would certainly take them.
