I have a BB with around 650 hp. There are plenty of transmission
builders to choose from. I run a 700r FTI Performance transmission built here in Florida.
I run a Yank torq converter with a 3200 stall. I also have a extra tranny cooler.
My car is a 1966 coupe. Decide your driving style, and then decide on the tranny.
You are better off with a OD top gear. It will save you a little gas money.
