Ignition switch
I've had a 1959 for 20+ years. It was running but because I've moved over and over again have let it set. Bad gas removed, Battery out.
The 2x4's always a problem, then from day one, electrical...stopped at 80% complete rewire (M&H) now can't remember why some things are as they are, left disconnected. Not the current thread problem.
That said, when loading on the transport to move it 6 years ago, the ignition switch failed to retract from "START" and manually moved enough to allow "RUN" to let it run without the starter engaged. They were able to drive and move it.
Fast forward 6 years. So now after flatbedding to my house a year ago, I have a new Danchuck branded Ignition switch. I used the key and pin method removing the cylinder, and the tool to loosen the lock nut.
They look the same. I didn't pay attention to the old one coming out but the switch doesn't have a "happy" spot to index itself. My dash has two slots and both the old and new switches have three pins. same length, etc. The switches, (both) do not reside properly in the dash receiving hole.
Before I do any more, anyone have issues with the ignition switches? I'll get some pictures.
This corvette is nothing but problems, but I need to get it running again and sell it.

Old switch, new switch
Although the picture is larger than I wanted, here are the two switches. The one with the shiny spot is the new one. I found this (new) diameter was just a few thousandths larger, so the plastic markings (lock,on,run, start) ring wouldn't go over it. I sanded the switch smaller and the plastic ring bigger and with a light app of silicone spray applied with a q-tip, allows the things to mate. Then suddenly like an epiphany, I realized how it fits, then saw your message.
Thank You. I have miles to go before I sleep but this was one issue. -N
Now I have to back track 7 years to where I was, ... It ran but not well, enough to load it.
