Default UV flashlight

Which UV flashlight do you recommend for use with dye to detect oil leaks? I bought a $20 one and it worked once but never again. I would prefer one that you plug in rather than a battery model. Thank-you.

Whatever UV light you buy if it doesn't emit light at 365 nm wavelength its just a toy. I've had a cheap one and it was a complete waste of money but more importantly my time. My current one is an Olight Arkfield Pro which also has a decent flashlight and a green laser pointer function. Its a 3-n-1. The UV light is so good it's like flipping a light switch on in a pitch black room. It's so good I would highly recommend you do NOT turn it on inside of your house. If you do, no matter how clean you think it is, all surfaces will look like it was a mass murder scene. I've used it for A/C work and it was great for that. I haven't used it on an engine dye yet but in some cases you will still things with just the light. And you don't need special glasses to help see UV dye with a true 365nm light.

The one I have is for checking for AC leaks but works fine for any system that an ultraviolet dye can be introduced. It has clips to connect to the auto battery and came with a set of protective eye shields which it strongly said need to be worn to protect the eyes. But I bought it over 20 years ago so it’s probably no longer made.

Bought this one at Amazon 8 yrs ago. Still works great. Can be used in daylight, unlike many others that state that
all lights should be turned off. Regular AA size batteries. Would buy again. Super bright, even with battery power!
100 led bulbs. They also have a 128 bulb black light for a few dollars more.
