Do NOT SAY WHAT YOU ALL ARE THINKING
Want to put a new radio and CD Changer in a 63 SWC . I want to leave the other radio in it's spot so...........
I already have a modern radio and CD Changer ( Do NOT want to put in a Mid Year replica Radio ) ...........
I am very fussy with my Vette and do NOT want it all cut up so that when I sell the car , i can remove the new radio and CD changer and everything will be as original
Who would be good at doing this job
PLEASE No Brother - in - Laws ( I already got one that would BUTCHER it for me
Need someone Experienced and fussy
I think the spare tire carrier would be a good place! Nobody ever looks there!
:D
Seriously, what about in the rear storage compartment.
Don't know who in your area can do the job. Why not try Larry and his brother Larry. Experience is the best teacher (better on yours than mine)!
Well (pun) - my storage well is full of tools - since I always have stuff behind the seats (coolers, umberella, jacket, suitcases; caps; cameras...) and it IS a pita removing all that stuff to get in the wells. Unless you travel a lot lighter than I do, changing CDs could be tough.
Two other considerations: IMO use shielded wire for CD output lines, and insulate against exhaust heat coming into the wells. :mad
IMO you need to put it over your extra speakers on the rear wall. The amp could go in the tool well, that's where mine is. I just put my tools in the other side. Wires go thru the rubber drain plugs. It's very easy to get a close ground there too so you do not get feedback.
..i fashioned a new jack board and installed the speakers on the underside...i built up a carpet-covered housing in the center of that new jack board to hold a new head unit - you could do the same with a chnger and headunit......all wires are quick-disconnect so that erything is very quickly removable for a show....and the speakers are right near your ears
Haven't worked on any Audio stuff since the early '70's CB Craze...when I drilled holes in the bottom of the Glove Box to install the detachable mount for the CB radio; Have Drill, Will Travel
