Engine identification information
Rear bellhousing casting no. 3914678 I think its a 1968 block but could be a 327, ..Z/28, 302, or 350 from what I have found out so far.
The front passenger side block stamp is V0306YI
That means a Flint assembly---March 6th.
what I have been unable to find out is what the suffix YI represents. What car it may have come out of and what specs...HP etc.
The heads are both 8782461...double hump wit 2.02 stamped in the hump section One has J65 and the other E146
I'm thinking they are the 2.02 / 1.6 heads.
any help on this is gratefully appreciated.
I would like to rebuild this engine if it proves good --no cracks or internal damage.
Thank you
My 327 came out of a '68 L79 Chevelle and, before it got decked, had a suffix of EP. No real difference between it and any of the 'other'\
'68 Blocks, really. I'm guessing that the 327 in your 65 didn't
have the rear block breather hole, yes? That 'Road Draft Tube' hole got blocked off starting around the '68 model year and that means
to vent your engine, there should be some vented valve covers?
