Ive been biting off chunks of the welding upgrades. Also worked on replacing the diff crossmember bushings. Not a big deal getting the bushing out, but the rusted pieces of the outer shell had to be chiseled out with a weld chipping hammer. After that I used a carbide burr to smooth things out some, and then a small flapwheel to clean them up sufficiently for new bushings.
My new bushings were quite a bit too big, and I didn’t feel comfortable trying to force a difference of about .065 into the crossmember, so I cut the new bushings outer sleeve to relieving the extra circumference. I drove one in about 1/2 way and it was snug but not overly too tight. I think when they are driven in permanently they will be just tight right. That will have to wait until after powder coating.
