You'd be well served by taking some solvent (ONLY!) to that engine pad to remove the paint. You want to expose the original machining marks known as "broach marks" to verify the pad has not been restamped.
Do NOT use any mechanical means to remove the paint! No wire brush. No sand paper. Any of these aggressive mechanical removal processes could destroy the broach marks. Use solvent on a rag ONLY.
After paint removal, post pictures of the pad and you'll get opinions about its validity.
