What is considered to much weight to get a tire balanced?
I recently replaced the tires on my 1965 coupe and the maximum needed was 3.5 ounces on one tire
and 2 ounces of less on the others.
Is this within acceptable tolerances for a serviceable tire balance?
Happy Holidays to all and a heartfelt thanks for all the past help.
On a new tire, there are red and blue dots that are to be aligned with the valve stem. I cannot remember which for a specific tire, but if not mounted properly, it can cause the tire to require additional weights. Go the the tire manufacturer's web page and it should provide mounting instructions. Yours may not be mounted properly.

No different then any other car.
The 3-1/2 is on the high side but not uncommon.
I would break the beads on the tire and turn it 180 degrees on the rim and try again.
That is pretty basic procedure when mounting / balancing tires.
Check tire & rim for run-out / wobble see if that is the source / cause of unbalance
