Holy ****, batman, and at a dealer no less. I wonder what the real story is behind that car and what the dealer really knows. If they sell it, they'll be responsible for it unless it's a consignment, and even then......

there is a lot of scenarios but holy cow lip stick on a pig comes to mind
I've never seen a car with that much rust. I gotta ask a dumb question.... are all East Coast Covettes rusty like that? I live in CA... never seen that much rust under a car.... it's even in the ashtray.
That car hasn't been a nice car in a long, long time regardless of the bogus vin. It's been cleaned up as much as they can, but look at the frame. Does the paperwork match the vin on the car? Coming in from out of state the vin will be inspected by the DVM or HP and in many states would never pass. It's a bunch of parts and not worth half what they want.
Someone built up a hot rod from a wreck and here it is waiting to wreck someone's life.
The rust wouldn't bother me much if it passed the poke test inspection.
Wonder what the trim tag says for St. Louis or A.O. Smith? (as in '67 big blocks didn't come from Smith)
It's got worn-out "glass belted" radials... when was the last time anyone saw those outside of a Coker listing? (3-digit code seems to indicate '71/'81/'91)
No spare tire carrier.
No rear sway bar as should be standard on a big block. Can't see the rear half-shaft u-joint bolts/straps.
What's with the front brake line in this pic?

Sorry, but I can almost hear it squeal. What a pig. It had to sit outside for years and years for rust to build up like that...........................or maybe a flood.
Looks like the trim tag body number shows A-3001, so that came from an AOS car. If someone has some photo editing software, the number could be brightened and verified. Since AOS body numbering is so screwed up, there's no telling what car that tag may belong to.
If the trim tag is original then this car started out Ermine White with black vinyl interior, and likely a small block. With the illegal VIN plate this car cannot be licensed or registered. With all the rust the frame is suspect. The engine is an unknown, maybe a 454 or whatever, smog exhaust manifolds, but it does have the tripower setup so there's a few bucks. 60 pound oil pressure gauge, 6000 redline and no TI... and a weird cobbled up fuel line. Abused, neglected, rusted out and replaced VIN. Just wow

The car is listed in NMVTIS, so it must have a title. It may be registered somewhere, I doubt state licensing/registration verifies that a vin is correct for the car model it is associated with. The title probably says 1967 Chevrolet, maybe it even says 2-door.

Those three things would be standard on the 1967 hydraulic lifter 390 & 400.
