Default '60 wheels

Ordered 65-5534032A 15x5 OE VETTE 5-43/4 black 3.5" BS wheels for my '60 Vette from Coker Tire back on April 23, 2025 and just received some dissapointing
backordered wheels from Wheel Vintiques - THEY ARE STAMPED MADE IN "CHINA". Guess nothing is sacred anymore!
Do not know the story behind Wheel Vintiques but just found out they are a dealer and not a manufacturer. Had the impression they were manufacturers.
The story I kept getting as to the availablity was the manufacturer must be having problems producing them. Leading me to believe Wheel Vintiques was the manufacturer.
Always have to remember 'NOT TO ASSUME ANYTHING", except whatever it is "MUST BE MADE IN CHINA"!

Over 20 years ago I ordered a set (4) of steel, chrome "Smoothies" from Wheel Vintiques. Two of the wheels were so badly out of round that I could not get them balanced so I sent them back for replacement. The replacements were almost as bad, and I called their office and explained the problem. The salesman's answer was that these wheels were "just meant for show cars and were not really for driving". If you are looking at any wheels from Vintiques, I suggest you get the run out tolerances in writing before ordering.

Let me restate something I've said before and maybe should repeat it.
If ABSOLUTE perfect, period matching wheels is not mandatory, then a good source (or at least used to be) is junk, neglected, abandoned 55-56 passenger car wheels are the same (for the most part) as 56-62 Corvette wheels. Some may be riveted, welded, plain or dogbone. But they are STILL 15x5 and have the same back space. In the past, at swap meets, I have picked up 1or 2 for $5-50. A little serious cleaning, some time in the blast cabinet, a little Krylon, and you have some perfect wheels. Once a full wheel cover is installed, no one will notice.
Now, with that said, GENERALLY, 55 wheels have a slight difference in the center web from 56-later wheels (by the way, 57 pass wheels went to 14in). GENERALLY, 55 pass car wheels are riveted and 56 are welded. Some have, some do not have a dog bone.
I can post pictures if needed.
