Took 67 out for a spin yesterday speedo was kind of bouncy then pegged at 0 and odo not registering either. Does this sound like gears or cable ? Im not very mechanical. All other gauges are working fine. 4th drive in it. Damn. 🤮
Take cable off at trans...chuck up end of cable in drill..if it spins like the tach...put drill in reverse to see if speedo works...<<<I might be wrong on the direction of drill....if it works, take out the speedo gear on trans...its either there and stripped or missing...fell into trans
starting to detect a pattern here. one issue followed by the next. you're going to have to get mechanical. or line up a mechanic to fix all the issues.. It's the same course we've all followed with our old classics. it comes with the territory.

my speedometer did the same thing. pulled the driven gear out of the transmission and it was worn out. this is easy to do, just pull the speedometer cable out of the transmission. to replace it, just count the teeth and order another online. I got lucky and had the correct gear in my spare parts box.

Loosen small hex nut/bolt on side where cable is attached, rotate little clip...pull out 'bullet' with cable attached, or removed and the gear is on the end..do it carefully as its narrow..

which gear are you referring to? Im guessing the plastic one?
Yes, the plastic one. The color will indicate the number of teeth. You need to get one with the same number of teeth assuming it’s bad and the speedometer was reasonably accurate to start with. But not as good a possibility it’s that gear as is a bad cable or broken speedometer. Taking a drill set in reverse and attaching the chuck to the square end part of the cable after it’s removed at the transmission and spinning it will tell you if everything from there to the speedometer is in working order. The speedometer needle should rise in relation to the drill speed.

The picture of the one you posted is the one i was referring to
What does 'your' gear look like?
Not sure, have no way to get under car at present, but found a local shop that repairs lots of classic cars for a local museum and they said it shouldn't be a problem. When this weather clears out next week I'll see what they say.
