All,
I'm hoping someone can confirm the torque spec for the bolt that holds the alternator brace (bracket) to the block (water pump). The AIM calls for 20-30 IN PNDS. That doesn't sound right. The 66 shop manual calls for 30 FT PNDS for water pump bolts. Is that a typo in the AIM? Can someone confirm please.
Thanks in advance
I use SNUG TIGHT - the full effort of a normal size man on a standard wrench. It is getting hard for me to qualify as a normal size man. but it takes full effort sometimes to get up off the couch?
CAUTION: If using a split lock washer, tighten the bolt only until the washer is completely collapsed. Over tightening even with a torque wrench will deform the lock washer and reduce it's effectiveness.
