Default Stinger Hood

I would like a stinger hood for my 67 convertible. Does anyone have recommendations on where to buy? And if a reproduction part, what all parts do I need besides the hood with the stinger to make it a functional hood that will fit on the car? I live in New Orleans. (Edited). Thanks

Also, except for the L88 hoods in 1967, the 67 BB hoods were non-functional, so you don't have to worry about making it so. Simply for decorative purposes. Besides a good painter and perhaps a stencil kit for the stinger, you will also need to buy a hood insert.

Good Luck with it. C.J.

Vette Masters has a very nice pressed hood, check out mid-year mitch. About $1450

I got one for my 67 from Ecklers. It was on sale and only about $500 bucks. Spend the money and get a better one unless you like making things. I had to make the inside fiberglass part as they were not in stock anywhere at the time. Made a mold, and fiberglassed a part. Then, spent inordinate hours Bondoing and sanding the underside of the hood to get it flat as it had wavy exposed raw fiberglass. Endless Bondo and sanding but I got it flat and smooth. It finally came out looking great but the amount of work that it took and prep to paint it was just excessive.

You want press molded. Use advanced search here to learn what that is. Mine from Lee Bumb looks original. Vette Masters looks very impressive. Larry

I was fortunate enough to find a nos hood that fit perfectly with no problems but it was expensive

Please do not try to buy parts here in the Discussion section. Those posts will be removed. If you want info, fine, but if you want to make a WTB ad, please post it in the Parts For Sale section.

I have a Stinger on my '66 SBC Sting Ray. I'm not a huge fan. It was installed, I am sure, for air cleaner clearance so at least if there's a functional reason I can accept that. I like the SB hood better for looks though. On my hood there may be a very minor cowl induction benefit; there is an open air passageway. Maybe a minor effect if you squint and look sideways just right, maybe.

Just my $0.02, if you don't have a big block (at least you have a 67), keep w/the flat hood.

Not my thing being a "poser". You pop the hood and the people around will have the face of disappointment.

To be fair, most people won't understand a thing about it.
