Does anyone have anything decent looking that they store tools in the trunk for a road trip?
I generally just find a big enough bag and throw everything in.
now that the trunk is finished and looks good i was thinking of a box that can sit in the corner and i just load it up when ready to go. Any suggestion on what others might have used?
I am thinking something like this but smaller and cover it in my left over leather material
I have an old army surplus 50 caliper ammo box I use for a road trip tool box. It's not the prettiest thing but it's amazing how many tools fit in it, and it doesn't take up much space. I've thought about having a friend of mine who has a Corvette shop do a custom paint job on one, maybe flames or an airbrushed Corvette crossed flags on a Roman Red box to match my 62. He likes doing fun odd ball side jobs like that for friends and his better customers. He's done some really neat Kitchenaid blenders for people.
Griot sells some really nice complete tool sets in briefcase type cases, but they're not cheap.
GM used to offer kits similar to the Griot kit in a molded plastic case for a whole lot less money. At the moment I couldn't find them on any GM websites, but they may still be available.
Had one of these when I was in the service. Can probably get one at any Army/Navy surplus. Holds just enough important tools and not easy to slide in trunk. Been using mine for 40 years .
Rusty, you built a beautiful car, I get it you want a clean trunk but with tools you may need. It’s a Corvette make it look like a (tasteful) tool box, not a makeup case.
