Default C2 Firewall bolt question

I have a question about the circled screws/bolts on the firewall about if they are original or needed? Everywhere I look I believe them to not be needed, but I would like to be sure. It's a 1965 big block car if that helps. I ask because I'm going to be installing the Hyperspark Ignition box and coil and was thinking of making a panel that would use one or both of those screw holes to support the right side of the panel. I would then have the stud(s) for the heater box be the other side mount. Would hopefully allow for the coil to be close to the distributor, but it and the ignition box enough open space to not be too hot and out of the way. I'm in the starting process of installing the Holley Sniper 2 system with the PDM, Hyperspark box, coil and distributor. Open to recommendations and such that might help me in this process.

Thanks.

you would have to ask the last owners of the car what they installed as it did not leave St Louis with that

Kevin - Here's some pics from my Midyears, two 65s and two 66s and other than some odd drilled small holes here and there, no screw heads to be seen.
Curious what you might find on the other side of that firewall panel.
By the way, is your 65 a factory L78?

Mike - I'm not sure, this was my father's car and it was in bad shape when he got it. He wanted a 427 in it and that's what was put in it. I did some internet sleuthing to find out how to tell and from what I'm reading and seeing, I'm going to say no. The battery is on the passenger side and the fuel line makes a 45 degree turn after coming out of the frame. Thanks to you and Nowhere Man for the info. Now to start designing the panel for the ignition box and coil as it seems I have a good mounting spot.

Remove the glove box liner...

Stick a wire through the hole and see if it goes all the way through the firewall into the cab...

Almost looks to be the mounting pattern for an MSD ignition box

Could be from an old siren type of alarm or perhaps an old CD Heathkit electronic system. Jerry

My 65 had similar holes. Not typical factory production.
i filled them and painted over the filler.

Remember the drivers side firewall under the fender has lots of room to place MSD units and such. And they
will not be in the visual and are pretty easy to access.

I learned the hard way mounting electronic devices above the exhaust manifold, they will fail in a matter of time, generally short time. The farther away from the exhaust manifold you get is better. Ideally if you can mount an electronic device in the cabin, it will last longer.
