I am looking into a corvette and have the following question.
The trim plate has abuild date of G07 (Jan 7)
The engine has a build date of T0130 (Jan 30)
The heads have dates of A289 & A279
It is a 69 427 car
Can this be correct?
Could the body have been built and waited for a month for the engine?
:skep:
G07 is Feb 07 based on my books. What is the VIN? That will tell you when the car was built as well. And, what does the engine stamping pad say? I'm assuming it matches the VIN?
You're correct, I blew it on G being Jan, so the numbers make sense.
The serial # is 15565 which is kind of low for Feb., seems like I saw a site that clained they were into 17000 by Feb.
The real confusion on this car is that the trim tag is stamped C07; which can't be correct according to the serial#. Several people have looked at it and say it looks like a C. One expert is claiming the worker mis-stamped the plate; a C looks like G. Stranger things have happened.

My NCRS pocket guide states that the final ser# for Jan was 14695 and for Feb was 17571; the math says this 69 was built on the 6th or 7th of February (which matches your trim tag) - 7th of Feb 69 was a Friday.
I'm not really sure on trim tags. Maybe post a question on the NCRS discussion board?
I think it is quite possibe that a G could have been stamped as a C. Does the character look clear or does it look like it never was finished properly?
It looks clear.
I don't know how they went about assembling the tag, but I would think the month would be one of the most stable things on the tag impression tool. I'm thinking someone grabbed the C on the 1'st and several days later someone else noticed the mistake and corrected it.
I just might try the NCRS board, with all the data they have, they just might know.
