I'm having trouble getting the front nose support to line up with the rods that connect to the radiator frame. Early on I tried flexing it but the fiberglass was starting to warp and crack. I then decided maybe I needed new body bushings. I just finished that but the problem still remains. The rods are too long. It also seems like no matter what I do they will always be too long. The radiator frame is mounted to the chassis with the lower radiator bolts to the vehicle frame off. If I raise the chassis the radiator, and by extension the rods, raise with it. Do I have to cut down the rods?
There were a total of 4 common radiator supports that research shows. SM and BB with and w/o AC. All 66/67 used the same length headlight nose support rods. You didn't answer the question about the new front end or inner fenders?
No. It is a barn find and I don't know it's history but everything looks original. I went ahead and lifted the nose and will fix the cracks. It needs paint and primer and other body work anyway.
I think maybe the nose just sagged. Everything else looks straight but there are other repaired cracks in that region.

The reason I asked about the front end; If the inner fenders were installed before adding the support rods to help properly align the front end, the inner fenders could have been bonded in incorrectly.
After my car sat in pieces for years, and I painted it and started reassembly (I know I should have had the supports in before painting but didn't know at the time) I thought I had the wrong support rods. They seemed too long by half an inch. But I pulled and jammed and pulled and levered and eventually I got them in there. And the nose is perfect. I don't know if you're in the same position but thought you might find some more input helpful.
Thanks. Yeah, that is my exact problem. About a half an inch. I got them in but cracked the nose and some of the headlight cutout on one side. I'm going to be doing some fiberglass repair real soon.
You can see that the car had previous damage by the elongated holes for the headlight aluminum supports. So more than likely, something was glued together without having those rods in place.
