These Pictures of this Cemetery in Central Oregon with a population over time, of no more than 500, has more than 40 Veterans from WWI to the Iraqi war... I have 4 Veteran relatives buried here, 2 from Vietnam/1 from WW1 and 1 from WW2, along with other 'family members here,>>'17', and I, when my time comes.

At 3 pm on Memorial Day, we show our reverence and appreciation with a minute of silence for those that Gave All to support and defend the Constitution of the United States from foreign and domestic enemies upon which Democracy was founded.
In addition, each American should carry on that fight with the power of the pen as well as your vote or we will soon be fighting the enemies with weapons to defend America as our forefathers did.

Thank you, Ron, your words are powerful. IMHO we are under a greater assault from within than from without right now. The Constitution and those who gave their all defending it are sacred to me. .

The history of the wars seldom mentions what these young men and women, many teenagers, endured before their life was taken away. The fear, the horror, the sounds, the sight and smell of death, the depression, and even remorse for what they had to do to come home to the world but didn’t make it. Books and movies cannot fully depict the life of a soldier at war.

History alludes to all who gave all as heroes, which they were, but most were doing just what they had to do to stay alive and keep others alive. Many made it home but couldn’t live with the memories of what they had to do and chose to join those that died in battle to escape those memories. Even after decades of fighting the memories, death was the only way out. They were still heroes.

They were heroes in that they answered the call to serve for Democracy and didn’t run even when scared, afraid of dying.

They not only sacrificed their lives, but their future as fathers and mothers and the love of their children and family. Some left their widowed spouse and orphan children. They sacrificed absolutely everything that we enjoy because of their courage and sacrifice!!

I wish I could pass along the real feelings of war to the millennial and younger age groups to instill within them the sacrifice of the many and their responsibility as citizens to fight here at home to defend the Constitution and the Democracy it represents. Our history books cannot and do not adequately describe their sacrifice.

They were indeed all HEROES, least we not forget.

Tomorrow at 3pm, please stop for a minute and show reverent respect to our FALLEN HEROES.
Ron
