Has anyone ever found a build sheet in ther 66 and older Corvette. I have found them in a couple of chevelles that I owned. I think there was a thread on this awhile ago but I don't remember the answer.
I don't know about the '66 but I found the build sheet on my '67 on the top left hand side of the tank. I took the gas tank door off and stuffed my hand between the body and the tank to retrieve it. Hope this helps.
There are two different pieces of paper involved here - the "tank sticker" on '67 and later Corvettes, which shows the options it was ordered with, and the "Broadcast Copy", which has lots of boxes on it with the codes for all the individual parts (also has the VIN on it, which was not on the "tank sticker" until 1971). St. Louis did an extremely efficient job of "de-papering" the car at the end of the Final Line, and VERY few "Broadcast Copy" sheets have ever been found; it was strictly an internal plant document, wasn't needed by anyone outside the plant, and they were all pitched in the trash before the cars were shipped. The "Broadcast" and how it was used in the Corvette production system is the subject of an article I wrote for the next issue of the NCRS "Restorer" magazine; if anyone has a "Broadcast Copy" from a mid-year Corvette, I'd sure like a copy of it for my continuing research on this subject.
I have included a link to what I thought was a build sheet on my 64 Coupe.
It was found by the previous owner when installing new carpet. Apparently
the carpet removed was the original carpet and this sheet was found under
it. It also doesn't appear to be a "Broadcast Copy". Is this a build sheet or
not. It shows that it is a 64 coupe and shows all the options on the car and
the production date. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks for the info, the reason I'm asking is because in Nolan Adams restoration book he says that big block cars never came with 3:08 gears. My 66 has 3:08s that the orginal owner says he ordered the car that way. till I either pull the pumkin or find the build sheet/ broadcast sheet how do you know for sure :flag
That is in effect a build sheet. It may technically the sheet that went to shipping, but it has most of the same information. As for rear end ratios. BB cars could indeed have 308 gears. The BB would not have had a non posi base rear, but could be ordered with any optional posi unit. The code for L 36, L 72 was JA or DA. They made 693 with 308s in 66.

Mike - The document in the link is the predecessor to what became the "Corvette Order Copy" in 1965, which became the "tank sticker" two years later in 1967. Thanks for posting it! The link below will show you what a "Broadcast Copy" looks like - this one's from a '69 Z/28: http://image1.villagephotos.com/pubimage.asp?id_=358648
