Default Tracy Performance

Anyone ever buy a block or heads from Tracy Performance? They seem to have what I want, several in fact, but the price is high and I am buying blind.

Comments?

Lee

I have not purchased from Tracy so have not had an actual purcahse experience. That said, I too found parts of interest at Tracy via long distance with the following comment:

1) I called several respected Corvette people on the West Coast to get their opinion re dealing with this business - the bottom line was to exercise much caution and get everything verified by a knowledgeable third party

2) I then located an engine shop to have them inspect the desired parts - same message - exercise much caution

3) My own dealings with Tracy were unpleasant as he was arrogant, short and had a take it or leave it - I know what I have and if you don't buy this I have 10 that will approach.

So the bottom line is common sense with any significant purchase - do your homework - hire a respected knowledgeable individual to be your eyes and ears and take nothing at face value - check it carefully - if good - offer a fair price and if you have no deal - there is always another opportunity.

Deal with individuals you feel comfortable with. At the end of the day - you may feel comfortable with Tracy -

Good luck

My experience so far is like point 3 above. How about Engines Limited? They seemed much more willing to please.

Thanks, Lee

I purchased some heads from him several years ago and was happy with the quality of the parts. The price was a little high, but compared to some I have seen on ebay I can't be to dissappointed. So, my $0.02 is pass on Tracy. I have gotten the #3 choice that 66BB Coupe expressed also.

Have you tried Classic Engine Company located in WI? Tom, is a very helpful and sharp person.
