Default Brake Help

Hey,
My dad and I just reinsalled the front left disc after having a bearing fixed. Now when we installed the brake pads, they are always gripping it, not hard but they are making contact. We replaced the rubber hose from the back of the caliper, but that made no difference. I don't know what could be wrong.

Help is appreciated
Peace

Default Re: Brake Help (Deadhead)

Deadhead,
If there is just slight pressure, what you are experiencing is completely normal. There are springs underneath the pistons inside your calipers that cause constant contact between the disc and the brake pad.

You will notice a small but very noticable drag when you put the tire on and try to rotate the tire. If you give the tire a spin I doubt you could get it to rotate more than 1/4 revolution. The spring loaded calipers are what make the pad installation such a PITA if you don't have some of those caliper piston clips.

Unless you notice considerable drag - the car does not coast like it used to - then you have have a problem.
