anbody know the die size to freshen up the threads?...i have a spindle knocker that works on all but two spindles, threads LOOK ok, so i'm not sure what to do next
Don't know the size, but if you have a decent tap & die set, it should have a Thread Gauge so you can check the Threads per inch, and then a Mike or Vernier will tell you the diameter.
As for the damaged threads on the spindles, I would use a multi thread chaser (bar about 8 inches long in a 1/2" square form with various thread patterns. This is used to "chase" the threads, and work great. Alternate would be a triangular shaped file.
Don't think the spindle knockers are worth the powder to blow them to hell. Used a home-made spindle pusher that worked like a charm.
