I looked at a 67' today and the engine had the following part number and I was wondering what kind of engine it was:3955912. Can someone tell me what it is and if so can you tell me where to find this info on the net? Thank you
Are you referring to the block casting number on the bell housing behind the left valve cover? If so, are you sure it isnt 3959512, which was a 52-63 250hp 327?
I don't see the number you posted.
Also look at the stamp pad in front of the right valve cover.
That stamp looks like a VIN derivative for a Chevy truck built at the Lakewood, Georgia assembly plant, except the "E" should be a number, not a letter. Should also have an engine plant code stamped adjacent to it - one letter, four numbers, and two letters. If it was a "CE" replacement block, there would be a number, not a letter, after "CE".
