Default Engine part number help needed

I looked at a 67' today and the engine had the following part number and I was wondering what kind of engine it was:3955912. Can someone tell me what it is and if so can you tell me where to find this info on the net? Thank you

Are you referring to the block casting number on the bell housing behind the left valve cover? If so, are you sure it isnt 3959512, which was a 52-63 250hp 327?
I don't see the number you posted.
Also look at the stamp pad in front of the right valve cover.

No it was 3955912 by the bell housing behind drivers valve cover. Stamp pad has CEA138880. Where do you find the info what the number means?

If it were a suffix, yes, but not as a prefix.
I think that's a replacement something-or-other, and he has the numbers transposed.

That stamp looks like a VIN derivative for a Chevy truck built at the Lakewood, Georgia assembly plant, except the "E" should be a number, not a letter. Should also have an engine plant code stamped adjacent to it - one letter, four numbers, and two letters. If it was a "CE" replacement block, there would be a number, not a letter, after "CE". :thumbs:

You were correct, I went to double check today and he wrote the number down wrong, it was 3959512. Can you tell me more info now?

62-67 327 also used as a replacment block there is one listed at http://www.corvetteonly.org/parts_underhood1.htm :chevy
