Ok, one of the weights on the inside of my left rear wheel hits up against the clip on the emergerncy brake line, so my dad and I just replaced the rear suspension and all that jazz, and still the weight hits.
For some reason the wheel is too close to the control arm, and the lower bushing that is on the rear spring is closer on the driver side to the wheel than it is to the passenger side wheel, other than that, everything i see is practically the same on both sides.
I have no clue what to do. Any and all help will be appreciated.
Peace
...yup, sounds like the wrong offset...these cars need a 4" offset, so pop a wheel and measure the offset (wheel face-down, straight edge on the top of the rim, measure distance down to the center of the flat)....once you have that info, you can make a choice of going to the proper off set or grinding off the brake hose bracket and welding a new one on the inside of the t-arm...new repro correct offset wheels are about $60 ea. locally
i have a 66 and i have rally wheels on it and they have 3.5 inches of back space i was at a swap meet and i bought 2 rims that i thought would fit but when i got home and i put them on i see that they are almost touching the e brake attaching point on the t arm the back space on these rims are 4 inches they are 6 inch rims but they are too close to run with 4 inch back space i think 63 thru 67 would need 3.5 inch back space not 4 [fwiw]
my 6 inch measurement was an inside measurement bead to bead the rim is actually 7 inches wide, and the rims i have with a 4 inch offset are too close for comfort ,i measured this with a stright edge across the rim down to the center. this was the inside of the rim . my rally rims are from a 67 they have a DC stamped on them and they are 3.5 inches measured the same way I'm not well versed in how to measure rims sorry if i caused any confusion
