How do you tell the difference between Daytona Blue and Laguna Blue? I think my 64 is Daytona Blue. It is navy/metallic that looks from almost black to mid blue deppending on the light.
The '63-'64 Daytona Blue (code 916) is a very dark blue - a shade class sometimes referred to as "Navy blue", but I don't think it was metallic. The only metallic color available in '63 was Sebring Silver and it was an extra cost item - $80.70. Sebring Silver was not available in '64 and Laguna blue was only available in '66 (code 977). You might want to run these codes by an auto paint supplier to check the manufacturer's numbers and formulas.
Daytona is a true blue, but it does have light metallic. Laguna is a blue with green and purple. Looks really different when the sun hits it. Also metallic.
Here is a mediocre quality picture of my car. (scaned not digital). Its definitely mettalic. Its definitely changes color in sun. And its definitely not the original paint. I was hoping it was at least a corvette color though.

I've been asked a zillion times if that's my "black" Vette as people would point out my Daytona Blue Coupe.
There is a slight metallic content to Daytona Blue when viewed up close in strong light. A few years ago I got a front spoiler from Ecklers when they still had a paint & body shop so I had them paint it Daytona Blue and it was very true to the original with the metallic.
Laguna Blue from '66 is like an extremely dark teal and when viewed side x side against a true blue you can see the difference.
Both are fantastic colors. If I had a '66 in need of paint, Laguna would definately be a consideration.
