Can anyone gave me some information on these jackets? I would like to know what year or years these jackets were given to owners. Any information would be appreciated. TIA!
I have been told that these jackets could be ordered from a dealership/Chevy.
As far as I know, jackets were NEVER given to owners - just an owner's pin, card, and a jacket patch (depended on the year - some owner's packages were different). I still have the pin and card from one of my 65's.
The picture of the Corvette patch on the jacket appears to be correct. But there were not any jackets given away with the owners package. A plastic card with the vin number and your name printed on it along with the owners pin and the Corvette patch was all you received. I have three pins, for my 61, 62, and 63. A unique thing with one of the pins, it didn`t say "owner" on the bottom but is identical to the others but for that exception. With the purchase of my 68, I dont think it was still offered or my mother would have sent for it.
I have a jacket just like that but on the back it has a huge Northern CA Corvette patch. He told me it was his old club jacket. In the late 60's and early 70's my parents used to autocross and they had 7 vettes at one time. He was a mechanic and traded some for other cars, even a Datsun pickup! Now 30 years later I have his jacket and my car  too bad they sold them all in the divorce :mad Now all he has is the wheel out of his 58. A starting block for the rest of the car maybe
I had jacket of this style several years ago. I think it was dark blue with the patch and stripes, on the back was a club patch in the shape of Indiana.
I don't think these jackets were ever given to Corvette owners by GM. My wife still has her's. The dark blue with yellow stripe. She thinks we ordered it thru the Chevy dealer I worked at in the early 70's. I don't think we did as GM was selling the Bow Tie jackets at that time, whch we also boght. My wife was a timer & scorer for the Chicago Region of the SCCA and sowed her event patches on the jacket. There are no patches on the jacket dated earlier than 1974. That was also the year we bought or first Vette, a '74 coupe. So I would say that we bought the jacket in 1974. I can't remeber were we got that jacket , I'm sure it wasn't thru the daeler. Let us know if you find out any more history on these jackets. :)
