Steering Column
I ordered the repair and rebuild parts ans new tube from LIC and put them in last night.
The problem is getting the wire harness down far enough to install the signal switch on the flanges.
Anyone have an ancient chinese secrete to tug that harness down. Tonight I will pull the column out again and tug some more :( I don't like forcing things, they always seem to break when I do. :cuss
Thanks for some input.
Steve
I remember dealing with what you are talking about. Make sure you have the upper part seated all the way down as far as it will go to assure you are getting all the wire you can. Hard to explain, but I guess I'm saying to make sure you have the tube shoved all the way up into the upper part of the column where the switches and bearings are located.
Good luck, let us know if you get it okay. Brian
I learnes the hard way. you assemble the turn signal in the tube and bell while it's out of the car, then feed it through the fire wall and re attach the brackets otherwise you
1 Scratch the crap out of your tube bell and beauty spacer and then you have to pull it out anyway to repaint them.
2 you'll never get it lined up with the screw holes, plate and switch, without a little elbow room.
