Can anyone tell me the correct ride height for the front end of a 67 small block. Measured at the top of the front wheel well, nose or any other convenient place.
If you have a GM shop manual it provides details on checking ride heigth. If I remember right it's the difference in measurments from the center of the lower A-arm bushing bolt to ground, minus the measurement to the lower ball joint. You can't really check to the fender lip or the like because that varies with tire size. :steering:
GM restoration specs require 8 inches from the bottom of the rocker panel at the front and the rear. With side pipes - 12.25 from the body crease above the covers. :chevy
My 37 year old springs give me 8.25 at the front and 8.75 at the rear, since I use grade 8 bolts with nylok nuts to hang the rear at the spring ends. I like the high rear - nose down attitude.
The factory measurement technique (which measures suspension design height independent of tire size) is shown in the A.I.M. in UPC 3, Sheet A6. The same technique for the rear suspension is shown in UPC 4, Sheet B5. Both sheets also show the design rocker-to-ground dimensions, but those are tire size-dependent.
