Default Flat Spotted Tires

In the continueing effort to get my 66 outta the garage, is there a way to 'unspot' the tires? They've been sitting there for a number of years.

usually not. only way is to buy new tyres. if you once got the flat spot in there...there is no way of getting it out. buy a second set of rims and put the old tyres there for car storage purposes whilst the new ones a safely stored possibly haning underneath the ceiling....or so.

If the tires went flat, they may be damaged beyond repair. The only way to know is to air them up and drive the car, but if the car sat on flat times for some time, the tires are suspect (safety) and should probably be replaced. Nylon cord materials have more tendency to flatspot than rayon or polyester. Nylon will literally flat spot overnight, but they will assume roundness once the tires are warmed up from a few miles of normal driving.

What I said applies to both radial and bias ply tires. Few, if any, nylon cord bias tires are made nowadays, but they were optional in the C2 era.

As a rule, radial tires with a speed rating of "H" or above have one or more nylon cap belts or edge belts above the steel wire belts.
