Lucky me......
I would post this. I started getting this tiny clunk when shifting into 2nd,
or backing off in 1st, then applying more gas. Kind-of a back and forth
little clunk. It seemed worse today so I thought I had better take a look.
Hoping it was a u-joint or yoke, and not the RR or trans (could not pinpoint the clunk sound)
Was happy to find, {and glad I checked} the large single differential mounting nut was backed off from the bolt. (The one that goes through the
Diff carrier mounting bracket) I noticed mine has a single round alum disc
about 3/8" thick instead of the stock rubber cushion. Tightened it up, added another 1/2" back up nut, and as good as new. Took all of about 5 minutes.
Not sure what might have happened if it would have come off?
But it couldn't be good...
Anyway, just wanted to pass this tid bit on.
Next time your under there, check your nut! ;)
