*&%$#*UPS!
I called Scott at Garage Motorsports and had him build me a brand new M22("rockcrusher", with the heavy duty case. I had him throw in a new propeller shaft yoke, a new clutch, and even some oil.
On Monday, Scott shipped out the clutch in one package and the tranny in another overnight from Vancouver, WA. to S.F. The clutch arrived yesterday and the transmission and related parts are nowhere to be found.
UPS told him to wait until tomorrow before they can investigate the missing package.
I think I know what happened. A UPS worker took one look at that heavy package and shunted it aside. It may show up tomorrow or a week from tomorrow and with no explanation.
Like I said, I'm pi..ed!
:mad :mad
To make matters worse, I just got the Vette's license renewal notice from the State of California,...$700 :cuss :cuss
The tranny has no such record. :mad
But WOW--700 bucks for a plate? Now that is obscene :U :U
Take a deep breath, I'm sure it well all work out. I also bet the tranny shipped insured. BTW, when you get your tranny installed, let us all know how it works. I know Scott treated me good and did a great job on my M21!
I've talked to others that have had the same experience. He's a man of his word and stands behind his work. Lets hope UPS does the same.
Craig ;)
I know one thing here that would make me angry though and thats having to pay $700 a year for license plates. I complain about the state that I live in (N.J.) with the highest property taxes and car insurance in the nation. We have had our rates increased on car registrations this year but it was only give or take maybe $10 more per car depending on the weight of the vehicle. Its no more than $68.50 a year here to register a car similiar in size to a Intrepid. Both my C-2 and C-3 Corvettes have Historic License Plates and there was a lifetime fee of between something like $45-$87 depending on the plate you ordered before the latest increase.
I heard on the Fox News channel that the price for car registrations in California tripled this year. Is this one of Gov. Gray Davis's doings and one of the reasons for the recall? I guess its time to elect the Terminator for governor of California.

As far as UPS, I use them as little as I can as they charge Canadians an additional brokerage fee which can be as high as 50% of the shipped items value....

It turned out it was scanned in Washington on Tuesday afternoon, a day after Scott dropped it off. Then, it was sent to Portland and then sent to Ontario in So. California, instead of Oakland in Northern California. Well, as of 3am, it arrived in Oakland so I'm dropping the Vette off at the mechanic this morning on the hope that the tranny will be there this morning.
Thanks everyone for calming me down, but you know, how we love our cars! :D :D
Now, as far as the Cal. registration. Well, three years ago, during the boom, the State reduced the registration fees by 2/3 or so. But, now with the slump and the State 38 billion in debt., the Calif. Treasurer invoked a provision of the law that allows California to charge the old, full, registration fees.
Consequently, big bucks to register my four cars: Vette, 99 Camaro Z28,86 Grand National, 2003 Subaru Outback.
The good news is that both Democrats and Republicans favor reducing the fees and raising other taxes, such as tobacco and booze.
But, I still have to pay the higher rate and hope to get a refund in the future if the fees are reduced.
And, Craig, you're right, Scott's a great guy and I'm sure, did a great job on the tranny.
Thanks again everyone :yesnod: :yesnod:
