My '64 engine was, once, a fulie. Now, carbs, history unknown. I'm having the car repainted this winter, and can't decide whether or not to have the fuel injection emblem removed. I'm not going to buy and install a FI. I'll probably keep the car till the day I die. Opinions which way to go???!! folks always remark when they see the FI emblem, oh a fulie, then I hafta explain.
You have to explain  . Don't you like talking about your car? I guess after the umteen millionth person ask you the same question it can be a little tiring.
Why not add the FI? You're very lucky to have an original! In any case, do as you wish, it's your car.....but I wouldn't try to erase it's true identity, someone down the road may want to put it right (these cars will be going strong long after we're dead and gone).
Hard to figure out..... some Dudes are making FI cars out on non-FI cars (creating fakes) then some guys with the real thing are.......
Leave the emblems. Someone down the road will want to do the right thing and return it to FI status. The best thing to do is to put the FI back on. It's expensive, but it will add more to the car's value than it costs if the car is indeed a real FI car. Be sure it is a real FI car and not one some previous owner has added emblems to.
Keep 'em if your car was indeed an original fuelie car.
Lot's of people in the late 60's early 70's pulled the FI units off and put carbs on due to tuning issues. Tell people it is a 70's "period correct" car! :D
Besides, the FI emblems are very   :)
Two options; I live close enough to you to get your car running as it was in it's FI glory (as it left the factory); or sell it to me and I will have fun with it!!
Leave 'em on.
Think of all the crap you will get at show and shines & car shows.
The experts will all inform you your car is not correct.
And tell you something obscure, something we could never imagine!
I get it all the time! :nono:
Well, I liked FI so much that I added it to my 56 and added the emblems. I DO get lots of "experts" (trust me, everyone is!!!!) commenting about FI on a 56 when it didn't come out until 57. When I get kind of tired of hearing it, I ask them if they went over there and ask that guy with the 32 Ford why it has a Chevy engine in it (except this weekend it was a yankee from Jersey and the car over there was a 32 Ford with a blown early HEMI in it), or, did they ask that guy over there why there is a BB in his 55 Chevy. And most of the time the answer is something like "oh, because someone put it in there"-------------------------DUH!!!!!!
Some people are stupid, the rest are retarded.
I have no pity for stupidity!
I had badge envy once, but now I'm over it ...
There is a 64 that runs around town with Fi emblems and the owner does put
his foot into, so I was like WOW cool Fi on the 64.
I was at a local show and there was the car with the hood up, I went over took
a look, got the it was originally a FI car but at some point the carb was ....
I looked at the tach, hmmmm same redline as my 300hp. So I guess the tach
was changed at the same time the carb was installed ...
