Date Codes

I was looking for the Gear Ratio code on the bottom of the rear carrier and I am confused about the date code, the code is AU 982 66. It took allot of cleaning and Bi focals to read this so maybe I have the numbers wrong. I believe AU is a 427 with a 3:36 Posi, my 67 was built Mid December 1966, Any help would be appreciated as always.

According to my 63-67 Corvette Factbook (Dobbins), you got it right AU is the code for a 396/427 3.36 Posi rear-end. I can't be of much help with the date code.

Thanks for the response, the date code would tell me if it was originaly a BB car, It isn't numbers matching.
