Can anyone tell me what cubic inch my engine is?
Block casting number 391468, cast date A 30 8, pad date VO22IHF, pad VIN F177643, heads casting number 3917291, cast date B 5 8, idle speed 850rpm, idle vacuum 13.5", non original carb is a Holley List 1850-3 (4160), intake is an Edelbrock, 7th bellhousing hole drilled, tapped, and bolted, 1/8" plug at the 11 o'clock position above the timing cover, 6 3/4" harmonic balancer, timing is 10 degrees BTDC. Books say it is the same block for a 302, 327, and 350, quite sure it is not a 302. Would like to know so I don't have to remove a head and take measurments and the pan to check for 2 or 4 bolt mains.
Thanks for your input
HF in '68 (which yours is) was a large-journal 327, and in the '69 model year HF was a 350; only way to tell for sure is to get the numbers off the crank.
Whats the aprox. measurement of your pad? I posted a question simular to yours a coupe of weeks ago. I'm just wondering if you have the same book I do. My pad is wipped clean, but I should really get around to looking at my casting date. My casting # is the same as yours.
I'm new at this reply stuff so hope this is going to work! The pad is 4 1/4". John Z is leaning towards a 327 and I agree, however the crank number would help but I hate to remove an oil pan that isn't leaking!
