Can anyone tell me what a Delco-Remy alternator part # 1102478, 55Amp, built 5L20 was used on? Guy on ebay sez its for a 63-67 327 Vette. The only 55 Amp one I can find is part #1100694 which is listed in NCRS judging book and Corvette by The Numbers book.
A footnote says the 1100750, which is a 61 amp unit for C-60 and K-66 may be used for some '66 and '67 with C-60 and w/o K-66.
Prior years with both C-60 and K-66 use a 60 amp Delcotron. Later years all used at least 61 amp units on A/C cars and 37 and 42 amp units on non-A/C cars.
Based on the 1102... prefix, I'd say that alternator was released in the mid-seventies (1975 would jibe with the date code), but it was not OE on a Corvette. The 1102474 (a 61 amp unit) has a number of C3 applications beginning in '75. Close, but no cigar!
BTW on most of these alternators, the difference in amp rating is just the stator coil, so a lower amp unit is usually easy to upgrade to about 60 amps with a different stator.
Thanks for the info...The alternator in questionis a 10-dn judging from the picture I have. My book shows them in use til 68 and the 12_SI Series begiining in 69 so I don't belive this to be for 1975. I was wondering if it could be for a truck or some other GM vehicle in 1965?
