I have a 66 327/350 coupe, knockoffs, side exhaust, tire diameter is 27". I just installed new "GT" front springs and a plastic 360 lbs/in. rear spring both from "Vette Brakes". There is over 1 1/4" above the front tire and fender and 1" in the rear. This seams way high and looks terrible. With the old springs the tires were under the fenders by about 1". It's over 2" higher now.
Does anyone know what the correct ride height is? from the body crease at the headlights to the ground or from the bottom of the sidepipes to the ground or ???
Chevy spec calls for 8 inches floor to bottom of rocker panel (front and rear). That translates tp 12.5 inches to the body crease above the rocker (that aligns with the bottom of the door. My car - which is sitting on ots original springs is 8.25 at the front and 8.75 at the rear - but I like the rear high and use grade8 bolts with nylok nuts to raise the rear. :jester
From GM. There is a post with the phone number to call currently on the board - I think the ladies screen name is clintx. I called the number 9-10 yeras ago and got the spec sheets for a 65 and a 66. The ride height spec was the same.
Your car is over 4" lower than stock with no clearance problems? Or am I reading your post wrong? What wheel and tire combination are you using? What shocks and springs?
