I am replacing my inner fender A-Arm dust shields, which come complete
with new staples.
I would like input on the best way to install the staples, and then bend
the inner (wheel well) side closed.
I plan to use the old shield as a template to make the holes for the new
staples. That is the only way I see to be able to get it installed back into
the same holes on the fender. I plan to push on the staple, then maybe use a hammer ( ? ) to bend them tight.
For those that have done this, am I on the right track ?
Here is the shield http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2440302261
Thanks
EDIT: I finished installing the dust shield using the pliers.
It takes quite a while to do, but it looks very nice compared to the
old, ripped one I replaced. Thanks for the suggestions.

First just let me tell you it's not as easy as you would think.. I wouldn't recommend the hammer b/c those pesky little staples are stronger than they look. I used a set of channel locks and that worked pretty good. You can reach around the shield to the staple and crimp it at the same time. Dave..

the shield off. I've never seen such heavy duty staples.
I use typewriter correction fluid. Put a little "dot" on the ends of the staple and mark the shield itself. Use a Dremel or Whizzer with a straight burr/drillbit and drill through the shield and fiberglass. Use heavy needle nose pliers to install and bend over in the back. You'll never hammer them through. :) Chuck

I was going to use a hammer to bend the back of the staple closed, but
the pliers sounds like a better idea.
