Perspective
The following is a small sample of that wit.
" Just an observation, in passing. On one of the recent trips to UAB Medical Center in B'ham, we arrived in 8:00 AM traffic which was stop-and-go for about ten minutes as we got to the I-65 intersection with I-20/I59. Ordinarily, we make these frequent runs in the '93 GMC Suburban. But, on this occasion, we were in the new Vette. After the I-65 traffic gets merged into the I-20/I-59 traffic, we move over to the right lane to take the 22nd street exit to go south to the Kirklin Clinic at UAB. While stopped, briefly, there wasn't much scenery of interest, but I just gazed around a bit, having nothing more important to do at the moment.
Nothing to see in front of us but the back of a Waste Management truck, to the right was a non-descript building. But, to the left, I was entranced by what I saw. A tire. A big tire. It was a cement truck, with the cement mixer going full tilt. But, what really got my attention, I had to look up through the top of the driver's window to read the specifications printed on the truck tire on recommended air pressure, et cetera. Also, noted was the tread separation on the re-cap of that tire. Ho-hum."
Merry Christmas to all.
Not having driven a vette in 24 years until he got his new one, he had forgotten the view from down under. I got my first real view cruising down the interstate at about 70 when a semi passed me, and I was evylevel with the trucks axles.
Very humbling experience.
