Re: 64 on ebay (grumpy55)
I believe the 3 speed was the base tranny meaning the engine must be the 327/300 (I don't have my black book here at work to verify) so this would be a bare bones 64. All numbers match but we don't see any :skep: :skep: :skep: . Yet what we can see is incorrect wheels and hood painting. Something smells here. $42 for a base engine (he only mentions 327) coupe. I'm right behind Nickey71 for an appraisal from that guy.

well, if nothing has been seriously molested (aside from the hood/nose paint, and the incorrect rallies) then perhaps the appraisal of north of $40k isn't super unrealistic, although the 64 is the lowest-valued mid-year (note to all you 64 owners: I am not slamming that year, only recognizing market realities).
however, in my limited experience, if the previous owners did things like change the paint away from stock and the wheels, then other things have been done too, bet the engine bay looks customized as well, not that there is anything wrong with that, but it sure impacts on the "el-correcto" resale value . . . . . .

...eh, it's california...who knows what price that'll fetch over there
....this is not a $40K car...at that price point, for a '64, you're paying for originality and the car has a painted hood, '67 rallye's...and i agree the under-hood view must be interesting
...the '64 owners will yell at me but that year is the runt of the litter, drum brakes, can not accept a big block, it's not a '63, yadda yadda....high 20's is the place to start, maybe low 30's if it is immaculate
...the PG is a two speed transmission, not a 3 speed as advertised...and i notice the gauge cluster is trimmed in silver....not lookin' real good to me...looks like a rookie is trying to recoup his losses from an unsuspecting buyer

In 1964 there were 8,304 Coupes made and 13,925 Converts... none of which were painted like that or came with wheels like that. That must be what makes it rare.
I'm with the rest of the group, I wanna' see what rare items lurk under the hood.
