side pipe restoration
I have a set of side pipe covers for my 67 that I want to clean up a little.
Can anyone tell me what the paint on the low ribs is ? What kind of paint
( lacquer , enamel )& if there is a color code for it. thanks Brooksie

They are originally plated. However you may want to try Krylon Dull Aluminum. Paint a test piece first and see how it looks. Spray light coats.

...before painting them, try this....buy 0000 brass (preferred) or steel wool, spray the area with wd40 as a lubricant and buff a small area to see how well they come up (this works on the anodized or chromed surface...give it a shot :thumbs:

I believe they were/are anodized, then the low/slotted area's painted...... I found out ~35 years ago when cleaning an original set with lacquer thinner......the paint came off !! :-).
I don't know if anyone sell's the paint....you may have to mix your own
